June 26 Sticks and Stones Percussion-Stephen Stone will entertain us with a solo act on a marimba, which is made up of wooden bars that are resonated by tubes beneath them, producing a warm and rich tone. Sticks and Stone will bring us on a fun journey, taking you through a little of every style of music via the marimba (“the piano of the jungle”). Enjoy upbeat, danceable, melodic music from rich, earth-tone, marimba warmth. July 10 Ben Sures – Ben Sures is a guitar player who tells great stories in song. A natural performer with an instinct for humor and storytelling. Ben Sures writes songs about everything from imaginary rayguns to sandwiches prepared for him by his father when he was a child visiting on weekends. Sures is immersed in the history of roots music, the old traditions informing this contemporary songwriter’s music. His most recent album ‘The Story That Lived Here’ was number one for consecutive weeks on the CKUA radio chart and was in the top ten of the national college charts in Canada.Sures is a winner of numerous international songwriting contests. He has performed across Canada, in Beirut, Lebanon and Puerto Vallarta Mexico. July 24 Up the Creek – Up The Creek is a local band that has been going strong for close to 20 years. We are a group of friends that share a love of music. Our music includes bluegrass, gospel, country, folk and some familiar classics. We look forward to an evening of music with the Bannerman Community.
August 7 Ella Jensen – Ella Jensen is a Métis folk musician and songwriter based in Edmonton, Alberta. She is releasing her first single Take Me to The West Coast this year. Her music style is a combination of classic and modern folk. Artists she takes inspiration from include Brandi Carlile, Sara Barellious, and Joni Mitchell. In her free time she enjoys acting in and directing live theatre. She is currently attending the University of Alberta, pursuing a career in education, majoring in Theatre.
August 21 Kim Gates -Kim Gates is a professional singer and songwriter that entertains regularly playing solo performances, duos with his violinist, Drew Price, and with his 3 piece band, Kim Gates and The Dark Frames. Kim is a highly acclaimed pub entertainer, providing the perfect soundtrack for fun with friends.
