The area was named for H. Bannerman, who settled in the Belmont area in 1883.
The Bannerman community league, established in 1980, fosters community spirit and engagement. The community league’s goal is to bring residents together and promote a sense of belonging and contribute to the neighborhood’s vibrant atmosphere. The league coordinates a variety of activities and events throughout the year such as Seasonal Festivals and Events, Sports and Recreation Programs.
The league maintains a community hall,outdoor rinks, community gardens and orchard.
