
The area was named for H. Bannerman, who settled in the Belmont area in 1883. The neighborhood is bordered by Victoria Trail to the west, 144 Avenue to the south, the North Saskatchewan River valley to the east, and 137 Avenue to the north.
The Bannerman community league, established in 1980, maintains a community hall located at 23 Street and 140 Avenue, outdoor rinks, community gardens and orchard.
The community league’s goal is to bring residents together and promote a sense of belonging and contribute to the neighborhood’s vibrant atmosphere. The league coordinates a variety of activities and events throughout the year such as Seasonal Festivals and Events, Sports and Recreation Programs.
